Modane is dotted with many historic monuments and buildings. Dominating the endless blue skyline of Modane is the Fort of Replaton, which was built to defend the entry of the railway tunnel at the end of the 19th century. Strolls at the beginning of Loutraz are great as well as the glance on the illuminations of the fort the night. Dig deep in to the heart of the town where you can see the beautiful Parish Church which is known for its impressive architectural style. Only the bell-tower of this building is former to the Second World War, the remainder having been destroyed during bombardments.
