Located close to Toccoa vacation homes and villas, the Historic Town Mall in the downtown area is an important attraction in Georgia. From 50's to 80's this mall used to be a major business center. Today, the mall serves several stores including the Gallant-Belk departmental store near Toccoa Court House. Traveler's Rest State Historic Site is another important attraction in the town. It is an 18th Century Stagecoach Inn constructed in 1830s.
Traveler's Rest is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It preserves much of its unique and elegant architecture, and showcases many original artifacts and furnishings crafted by Caleb Shaw, a master craftsman from Massachusetts. Other major attractions in the town include Currahee Mountain that rises 1,874 feet above the sea level, and the Blue Ridge chain. Toccoa is also an easy base to visit other popular towns of Georgia Northern region, especially, Blairsville and Blue Ridge.
Situated on a wooded peninsula, Togaloo state park is a popular outdoor recreation venue near Toccoa. It offers many campsites in its vast wilderness area that includes the 55,590-acre Lake Hartwell, and two nature trails - Crow Tree and Muscadine. This state park offers excellent large-mouth bass fishing and hiking. During summers Lake Hartwell becomes a favorite venue for swimming, water skiing, sailing and boating.
