Puddletown, Thomas Hardy’s “Weatherbury”, is in the Piddle Valley, surrounded by rolling hills and woods. A pleasant walk through Puddletown Forest, amidst countryside rich in wildlife, leads you to Thomas Hardy’s Cottage. In the adjoining hamlet lies the delightful 15th Century Athelhampton House and Gardens. The lovely Roman town of Dorchester with its fascinating weekly market, museums and historic attractions is four miles away. Weymouth and the World Heritage Jurassic Coast is only a short drive
The cottages are situated on the edge of the village overlooking the meadows and rolling hills of the Dorset countryside. They are furnished, equipped and decorated to a high standard, With full gas central heating you will be warm and cosy at any time of the year.
They are charming cottages in which to relax in comfort and enjoy your holiday in a friendly village atmosphere with easy access to the whole of Dorset.
Mead Cottage:- attractively furnished lounge, dining and well-fitted kitchen. French doors lead to a heated conservatory overlooking the patio and sheltered south facing terraced garden. Entrance hall with cloakroom.
Upstairs - a double and two single bedrooms; well-appointed bathroom with over-bath shower.
Mabel’s Cottage:- tastefully furnished lounge/diner opening through French doors to a heated conservatory; a separate well-equipped kitchen/breakfast room; entrance hall with cloakroom. Upstairs:- a double and two single bedrooms and well-appointed bathroom with over-bath hand held shower. Outside:- a sheltered patio and delightful small walled garden.
Both cottages have private parking.
The surrounding countryside is in an area of outstanding natural beauty.
The Jurassic Coast:-
Weymouth and Studland’s sandy beaches. Lulworth Cove, Durdle Door, Ringstead, Portland and the Isle of Purbeck.
Beautiful Lyme Bay, Golden Cap and Charmouth, famous for its fossils.
Walking:- superb both inland and coastal.
Sightseeing:- pretty villages of Abbotsbury, Milton Abbas, Cerne Abbas
Dramatic Corfe Castle, Brownsea Island and many National Trust properties.
Museums. County & Dinosaur , Dorchester. The Tank Museum at Bovington, and Fleet Air Arm at Yeovilton.
Historic towns of Wareham, Sherborne and Shaftesbury are well worth a visit.
