Alum Cottage was originally built to store Alum mined nearby and, prior to its renovation, used as a local fisherman’s warehouse. Constructed of solid sandstone it has been skilfully converted to offer surprisingly spacious and attractive accommodation. The fabric and its interior are well maintained, comfortably furnished. Tastefully decorated to a high standard it has been carefully designed to create a warm, cosy and relaxing atmosphere offering superior accommodation – a home from home! A bright double height living room features a beamed ceiling, a superb natural sandstone wall, gas fuelled ‘live-coal’ stove, TV / DVD player and radio / CD player. A well-equipped kitchen provides electric cooker, microwave, fridge, kettle, toaster etc. and a dining area with pine table and four chairs. There is a double bedroom with wardrobe, two bedside three drawer chests and en suite bath, shower, toilet and basin. In the second bedroom there are twin beds, a wardrobe, bedside tables, a three-drawer chest and space for a travel cot, which is also provided.
