With great views, lovely gardens of cherry and chestnut trees next to the house. Nesso, 16 km mid way between Como And Bellagio, is on the Como "leg" of the lake. It is an old centre with picturesque groups of houses spread along the hilly slopes and along the shores of the lake.
Conveniently located for trips to Bellagio, Milan, Lago Maggiore, Lago d' Garda and Lugano,and Switzerland is 55 km away. The lake is only meters in front of the rental. San Pietro e Paulo's church bells toll on the half hour from the steeple seen from the balcony. the Roman Catholic Church, one of three in town, was built in 1095. A ferry stop is found up an ancient path and the little fisherman's harbor is just a minute further. The mountainside is dotted with waterfalls. In the center of town the Tuf and Nose stream, which descend from the Pian del Tivano, join to form a waterfall that plunges spectaculary into a gorge which can be seen from the road or from the lake, when passing under an old Roman bridge. Near Piazza Castello, by the waterfall on the main road there are ruins of an ancient castle.
The Nineteenth Century medevil fortification is highlighted by three little towers that are grafted on the ancient massive walls. It dominated the houses of the ancient village where the inhabitants found safe shelter and defense in the moment of danger. There are mountains to hike and surprises around each turn. The Pian di Nesso (Plain of Nesso) is 900 m high. It is a scenic mountain locality and is on the way to Monte San Primo.
