Cuernavaca is known as the "city of eternal spring" with a near perfect climate. It is a popular resort at an
elevation of about 5,000 feet and only about 2 hours by bus from Mexico City. In addition to the Spanish language schools in the area, there are many cultural events, art exhibits and concerts. The English speaking community is large and active and operates the Guild House in Colonia Vergal which sponsors various cultural and social events and activities and features a huge English language lending library. The house is a convenient home base for sightseeing in Mexico City, Puebla and the states of Guerrero and Mexico.
The "silver city" of Taxco is about one hour away and Acapulco is only 3 hours from Cuernavaca. Language schools in the area offer bus tours to various tourist sites at reasonable rates and being a student at the
school is NOT a requirement to join the tours which include archaeological sites such as Xochimilco in Morelos State, the many Museums and tourist sites in Mexico City, weekend trips to Acapulco and many other destinations of interest.
