The 180° view over estuary, farmland and sea is unique to Hawk Hill Cottage, which sits on a small bluff, facing towards Napier City and the Pacific ocean. Looking east, the sunrises are sometimes spectacular yet always fascinating - just open the curtains, slip back into bed and see the new day arrive. These views are from your bed, your table, the bath and even the loo. In the distance, watch shipping entering the port of Napier or aircraft moving in and out of the airport.
Named Hawk Hill due to the commonly seen Australasian Harriers that hang on the thermals before you, the cottage affords a great vantage point for bird-watching. From the porch the many species of water fowl that live on the estuary below the cottage can be observed. Native revegetation is attracting Tuis, Bellbirds and other New Zealand birds to the area, and they bring with them their song. Binoculars provided will help you enjoy their activities.
