The Saltwater Lodge opened in Feb 2001, and set a new standard in budget backpacker and family accommodation. In its first year it was awarded a 5-star Qualmark rating for Backpackers, being 1st in NZ to acheive this grade! It has a mixture of 6 & 4 bed dormitories and private King/twin and family rooms.
All rooms have bedding provided, storage lockers and en-suite bathrooms. Private Rooms also have their own TV, Fridge and Tea and coffee making facilites, as well as made up beds and towels provided. Rooms open up onto large sunny balconies, with some sea views. the large communal lounge and kitchen has excellent amenities including free tea and coffee, herbs and spices. Free movies, board games, book and video libraries. Also free to use are our bikes, tennis gear, bbq and gym.
Friendly and welcoming staff have an excellent knowledge of the Bay of Islands and can arrange all tours and bookings from reception, some at discounted prices. A great place to relax and unwind and meet like-minded travellers from around the world.
