Quinta São Gonçalo prides itself on offering you a fabulous breathtaking sea view from an old family manor house converted into a comfortable, quiet and discreet bed and breakfast accommodation!
Quinta São Gonçalo, built in 1853, was restored in 1999 and converted into a haven of peace, and calm bed and breakfast accommodation, with surrounding gardens and tropical fruit trees. The house, with 5 bedrooms, retains the ambience of a private home of old times with antique furniture that will make you experience unique and memorable holidays.
Whether you are planning walking holidays in Madeira majestic mountains; diving, fishing or ocean safari holidays; golf holidays; or simply getting away to relax, even if you are taking the whole family with you, Quinta São Gonçalo suits your needs! You can book the whole house or just the rooms you need, with our friendly staff and you'll have the vacation everyone will love!
The 440 sq.m floor area of the manor house are surrounded by 3500 sq.m of gardens and tropical fruit trees. The house has 5 bedrooms: 1 junior suite with a 12 sq.m balcony, where breakfast can be served and from where you can enjoy a spectacular view of the sea, Funchal's bay and harbour; 3 bedrooms with beautiful sea, Funchal's bay, harbour and garden views; 1 bedroom with a view of typical banana trees. All bedrooms have a private bathroom. You will always find a bottle of mineral water as well as fresh garden flowers in your bedroom, and fresh fruit in the dining room which indicate our pleasure in making you feel at home! Whilst all rooms offer warmth and comfort, the ocean view is the extra element that turns a pleasant stay into a magical experience!
There are very nice small restaurants nearby (in the historic old quarter) where one can eat fresh fish, or where you can listen to the 'Fado', the famous Portuguese song, for which a melancholic voice, a black shawl and heartfelt emotion are essential ingredients. Or a restaurant (within a 5 minute car ride) where you can eat the typical Madeira 'espetada' (grilled meaton a spit) and see and dance Madeirian folklore. Or choose the restaurants up the street from the Quinta where the food is very nice. Dinner (homemade local food using home grown ingredients) can also be served in the dining room if requested in advance.
