Located on a quiet, residential street in the geographical center of San Francisco (between the neighborhoods of Noe Valley and the Castro), Casa Francisquita is a large, convenient pied-à-terre within walking distance of all amenities – restaurants, markets, gyms, one-of-a-kind stores, and the historic Castro Theatre. All manner of transportation is readily available, including the venerable F-Line streetcars that carry passengers on scenic rides to San Francisco’s Symphony Hall and Opera House, the Financial District, the Ferry Building Farmers’ Market, Fisherman’s Wharf, and the beautiful new baseball park by the Bay.
Suitable for two guests (although we can also accommodate children or well-behaved dogs), Casa Francisquita is the lower of two flats in a home built in 1893. It has a private entrance, a serene, old-fashioned garden with a fountain, its own terrace and garage, and a well appointed kitchen for those who like to cook.* The comfortable, Arts-and-Crafts living room with fireplace offers books, magazines, CDs, videos and parlor games, as well as satellite TV and a surround-sound stereo system. An adjoining working area houses a desk (equipped with stationery, dictionaries and reference books), a private telephone, and high-speed internet access. A fax machine and a computer are available as well.
In keeping with its Victorian roots, Casa Francisquita has a bathroom with a walk-in tub and shower and a separate water closet. The bedroom features a queen-sized iron bed with a firm mattress and down comforter and pillows, and a closet with a built-in dresser, a supply of fresh linens, and two terry robes. (Additional closet space can be found in the living room and hallway). A collection of vintage San Francisco photographs is displayed throughout the flat.
With its large Wedgewood stove and period fixtures, the kitchen has a distinct thirties look, yet is equipped with a full-sized refrigerator, a microwave, and sundry appliances. A full set of cookware and bakeware, cutlery and fine dishes - as well as culinary staples, spices and condiments - completes the picture. Finally, there is a dining area and a small sitting room (with a sleeper sofa, washer and dryer, and pantry) that opens to the garden. The sunny terrace full of plants, on the front of the house, is also available to our guests.
Although not a Bed and Breakfast per se, Casa Francisquita provides a complimentary, self-serve breakfast (pastries, cereal, yogurt, fresh fruit, juice, ham, eggs, coffee and tea), as well as wine, sodas, fruit, snacks and bottled spring water. Of course, any special requests or suggestions will be taken into account. Our aim is to please our guests and remember their preferences.
