CAPE SAN BLAS is a narrow strip of land jutting out into the Gulf and separating the Gulf and St Joseph’s Bay. The beach along the Cape was voted No. 1 in the United States by Dr. Beach (Mr. Letterman) in 2002. Cape Dunes is a quiet, secluded area with no high-rises and 'bright lights'. Our home is on a narrow strip of land with a view of the Gulf from one deck and a view of St Joseph’s Bay from the other deck Two boardwalks, a few yards away, lead over the dunes to the beach. We have two restaurants just a short distance away, but no bars and night spots. St Joseph’s Bay Country Club, which is semi-private, is five miles away, and very accessible The Country Club has informal dining and full bar The fishing in the area is excellent; one can, also, surf and snorkel. For shopping, Port St Joe is less than ten miles away and Appalachicola is 23 miles. There are grocery stores in both towns, along with drug stores, and other smaller stores, specialty shops and restaurants.
