WHERE:Come to an island off the west coast of Florida. It is pristine--no businesses or cars, only residences.
WHAT TO DO: Although you can be content indoors, the true beauty of the island can only be appreciated when you are outdoors. Native plants are home to many birds, rabbits, turtles, and even armadillos! Explore the island's pathways by golf cart/foot/bike (no cars). Marvel at the unbelievable sunset colors. Search the night sky for constellations (easily visible--no city lights). Watch dolphins play in the water. Fish from the dock or beach. Cook over coals in the palm-thatched communal BBQ with chairs, tables, and evening lights. Enjoy the swing set and pool (heated on cool days). Toss a ball or frisbee. Play on the 2-mile long white powdery beach. Collect shells, sand dollars, and shark teeth. I offer beach chairs, beach umbrella, and Styrofoam noodles. Chaise lounge chairs and tables with umbrellas are poolside.
A BONUS: Enjoy the secluded wood deck extending over the bay just steps from our back door.
FLOOR PLAN: 1st floor open carport; 2nd floor master bedroom (king size bed)/bath/kitchen/dining area/living room/screened porch; 3rd floor another bath/bedroom (2 twin beds and floor space for a couple of sleeping bags or air mattresses).
HOW TO GET THERE: The island is accessible only by boat. If you have a boat, launch it from a nearby ramp. The townhome docks have plenty of slips for boats up to 22 feet. Whether or not you have a boat, you can also use the townhome association ferry (included in rental price.)
BACK TO THE MAINLAND: For more activities, go back to the mainland via a 5-minute ferry ride or your private boat. There you will find golf, shopping, dining, special events, cinemas, and much more.
