Tybee Moon Cottage, nestled among moss-draped live oaks, is three blocks from the North Beach and our majestic lighthouse. We are a cross between a vacation rental and a bed and breakfast inn: the owners live upstairs, and will be happy to help newcomers get oriented to island lifestyle and recreational opportunities. For guests who are visiting from hectic big cities, we even offer lessons in rudimentary relaxation, Tybee style. What distinguishes us from traditional B & B's is that rather than being limited to a bedroom and bath with shared living areas, our guests enjoy the comfort and privacy of 1400 square feet, including their own spacious deck and porch. Pets are welcome to join their owners at Tybee Moons, and there's a fenced back yard under the oaks where they can play to their hearts' content. Shared space includes a washer/dryer and a secluded grotto featuring a waterfall babbling into a verdant koi pond. The grotto also features a fire pit for oyster or wienie roasts in cool weather. On the down side, since guests have their own kitchen, we let them do their own cooking, so the second B in B & B is self-service. Back to the up side, there are two bedrooms, so four can stay for the price of two. Amenities include wireless internet access, bicycles, boogie boards, gas grill, outdoor shower, and dog pen. Bicycles are primary means of travel, and can transport a casual peddler from one end of the island to the other in fifteen minutes. A leisurely stroll along the beach can lead to a variety of colorful watering holes and eateries, or a Tybee Mooner can simply spend a restful evening at home.
