Hisel Valley Retreat is a small family-owned and operated vacation get-a-way, offering good ole southern hospitality amid the tranquility and beauty of rural Appalachia.
Our cottages are located at the foothills of the Appalachian mountains. We are approximately 23 miles due east of Berea, Kentucky. Berea is well known for its arts and crafts, and is home to a craft fesitval held each year in July. This festival draws thousands of people from all over the United States, who bring their homemade crafts for sale, and purchase crafts made by local artisians. Berea has several antique stores and other craft stores for your shopping enjoyment. Berea is located at exit 76 on I-75 and has several nice home town restuarants and fast food dining.
Our first cottage was completed in 2002 and sits on a hilltop above the newest cottage which was just completed in the summer of 2006. Both cottages are fully furnished and contain everything one would need right down to the silverware. They are also both non-smoking and we ask that guests respect this rule. Some additional amenities include; telephone, satellite TV, VCR and DVD players, as well as an assortment of VHS and DVD titles for your viewing pleasure.
The cottage on top of the hill has two bedrooms and one full bath. It has a wonderful front porch for sitting and soaking in the scenery. The rear patio has a grill and seating for four or more if you desire. The feel of the cottage is very open inside with the living room, dining room, and kitchen all being adjoined with a vaulted ceiling. In the rear of the cottage there is also a sun room, great for reading a book, with access to the back patio. The bedrooms are comfortable and have quite a bit of southern charm in their decor.
