Story Time Cottage is on Hemingway Point where the South Arm meets the main body of Lake Charlevoix. The cottage is at the end of Hemingway Road, in a hundred acre wildlife preserve. The cottage is on the south side of a heavily wooded bluff going down to a 108 foot private beach, giving you the best of both a lakefront cottage and a woodland retreat. There is a dock and a large deck right on the waters edge, both available for your use. You can sit back and watch the ferry cross about a half mile away, or join in the fun on the water. There are no other cottages close to you. There is a wooden walk-way going down to the dock. This cozy cottage has one large bedroom, a big bathroom, and a combination kitchen/living room. There is also a hide-a-bed in the living room, so invite your friends or bring the kids for a week's getaway.
The cottage faces west towards the lake, and features a large picture window and glass doors leading to a covered full porch overlooking the water. There is a boat mooring, or you can tie to the dock. We have a paddle boat and a fishing boat that can also be available to you. Some of the best fishing on the lake is right off the dock, where you can catch Small Mouth Bass, Wall-Eye and Brown Trout. There are good hiking trails going through the preserve and some end on a mile-long boardwalk at the waters edge. You can take the ferry to Charlevoix five miles away, or Boyne City nine miles away.
There is a great nine-hole golf course nearby and all of the Boyne Country golf courses are at the Mountain only twelve miles away. You can bring your own bicycles, or use ours. The sun sets over the lake and is breathtaking from the lower deck. This isn't a commercial area; the summer homes are from a different era in time. It is a quiet and unspoiled place.
