Built in 1936 as a family residence, The Lodge borders the Necanicum estuary, where three waterways - the Neacoxie, the Neawanna and the Necanicum - meet and flow into the Pacific Ocean. Our family (Drs. Frank and Evelyn Strange and children) became acquainted with The Lodge while living in Gearhart during the mid-1960s. We purchased the two-acre property in 1972 and, after extensive restoration, named it The Lodge at Gearhart’s Little Beach. In addition to its eight bedrooms and four bathrooms, The Lodge has a spacious living room, with hand-hewn beams, a six-foot fireplace and an independent dining room. With the tidal estuary now splashing against the front bank, a short walk will get you to Little Beach, which curves along the estuary, or to Big Beach, on the Pacific. Views from The Lodge are spectacular, as is the atmosphere it creates for visitors who come for inspiration, celebration, relaxation or just plain fun.
