Within 10-20 miles of Custer State Park, Needles highway, Mount Rushmore National Monument, Jewel Cave National Monument, Wind Cave National Park, Sylvan Lake, Stockade Lake, Bismark Lake, Legion Lake.
Of course Mount Rushmore and Crazy Horse Memorial are within 5-20 minutes. Custer State Park, 6-7 miles east, has one of the largest free roaming Buffalo herds in the world, as well as wild burros, big horn sheep, prairie dogs, deer etc. October 2-5 is the Buffalo Roundup with a 2 day Arts Festival. Visitors can watch the actual round-up on the 5th. They are sorted and some are sold at the Buffalo Auction later in the fall.
My favorite is the caves. Jewel Cave National Monument is 7 miles and Wind Cave National Park is 15 miles and are both world class caves with scenic and spelunking tours. There are two barns and it may be possible to bring your horses as there are hundreds or miles of great trails!
