Sanctuary is set in a beautiful organic mixed vegetable and flower garden between the tiny village of Westminster West and the surrounding forest, just 15 miles north of Brattleboro. We have one very special guest room with its own private entrance into the garden, a queen-sized bed and a private half-bath. An ideal accommodation for artists, writers and those seeking spiritual retreat. Delicious natural foods meals are made from locally grown organic produce in season, quite a bit of it grown in our own beautiful garden. Bounteous supplies of organic fruit, vegetables, meat and cheeses are available from nearby Vermont farms. It's easy to be a 'localvore' in summertime! Special diets will be cheerfully accommodated: vegetarian, vegan, no-wheat, no-dairy, etc. Generally, meals are taken in the sunroom or the large living-dining room. We have just devised a way to give guests a private sitting room by using shoji screens to separate the platform at the south end of our large living room from the rest of the room (see below). It is the perfect place for yoga, meditation, reading, writing, relaxing, surrounded by beautiful plants inside and out. Because of the unique atmosphere at Sanctuary, our guestroom lends itself particularly well to personal retreats for individuals and couples. We can accommodate an extra person on a futon in the sitting room, for an additional charge. We are not set up for children, but are willing to consider your needs.
