Kihei is a busy year-round destination. My favorite time to visit Kihei and the island of Maui are the months of Late September, October, November and May.
The tourist season is lighter and the island is more relaxed.
If you are a whale lover, mid- December and April is whale watching season. From your Kihei condo or on the beach you can spot a Humpback whales resting after their 3500 mile migration from Alaska to the warm Hawaiian waters where they mate and have their calves.
For Spring Break and Christmas, you should book at least 9 months in advance, or as soon as the airlines start releasing seats. If you want to use your air miles, you need to book a year in advance. It is nearly impossible to find both air and budget accommodation less than 2 months to Spring Break or Christmas.
The summer months starting from mid-June to the end of August, are primetime in Kihei and it is recommended that you plan your trip at least 6 months in advance of travel. The rest of the year a 2 to 3 month window is normally all you need these days. |
