When staying in Kihei, you will find a multitude of condominium complexes either directly on the beach or more likely across the street from the beach, with excellent ocean views. The condos range in size from small studios to two bedrooms that sleep 8 with a sofa sleeper. Three bedroom condos are a rarity on the island of Maui. Almost all complexes have a simple outdoor swimming pool and a pleasant outdoor BBQ area where you can cook up a good meal and enjoy the outdoors.

The best locations in Kihei are a few feet away from one of the three Kamaole Beach Parks. This chain of white sand beaches offers safe swimming and excellent snorkeling, especially Kamoale Beach Park III. These beaches offer the added bonus of the best lifeguarding on the island.

The condos in Kihei are considerably less expensive than the pristine golfing community and resorts of Wailea to the South or Lahaina and Kaanapali to the West. Kihei though is plagued with traffic jams, crowded beaches and busy streets. Another budget alternative to Kihei is Maalaea about 15-25 minute drive west of Kihei. There are a number of condominiums located directly on the beach. This is a nice long and peaceful walking beach. All of the condos have gorgeous oceanfront views. However, there is not much in Maalaea other than a little market by the Marina and a restaurant or two. Maalaea is about an equal distance to the shopping and Restaurants of Lahaina and Kihei.
