Two families traveling together can enjoy sleeping privacy, but come together for meals and relaxing in the common areas.The main portion of the house includes the main living area, kitchen, two queen bedrooms and a full bathroom with whirlpool tub. This is a beautiful, very private home copied from a Frank Lloyd Wright design and modified to provide convenience and openness. A terra cotta cinderblock garden wall, matching the house walls, provides privacy on the mountain side, forming a large courtyard and bringing out the beauty of our bougainvillea and other tropical flowers and gardens. The other side of the house and gardens are fenced for pets, including large or small dogs. Relax on our covered lanai with a drink and your loved ones and watch the Kona sunsets over the ocean. Next to the covered lanai is a large deck with a large, rectangular pool and separate hot tub.We live in an eclectic neighborhood, mostly smaller houses neatly landscaped, one unsightly house, and one millionaire house . From our house you can't see any neighbors because of the privacy walls and landscaping, but if you walk out on the pool deck you can see the millionaire's house.Our pool is 17' by 34' and just under 5 feet deep with handicapped steps at one end leading to the hot tub and bedrooms. It's solar heated, but on cloudy days can be cool. Pool temperatures range from 74 on a cold day to 86 on a really hot, sunny day, especially in August and September. I swim every morning even in winter when it goes down to 72.Enjoy the fishing boat activities on the sea below. Look up the coast at the beautiful Kealakekua Bay. Watch the saffron finches and tropical Java sparrows at the bird feeders and listen to the sounds of the Hawaiian doves. Enjoy our 3 bedrooms, carpeted, with 2 king size beds and one double bed, each equipped with dressers and closets. Each bedroom has sliding glass doors that open onto pool deck. The master bedroom has 2 closets and a regular door to hallway, while the other two bedrooms have sliding Japanese soji doors. Wood finishing and kitchen counters and cabinets are beautiful, old growth fir from Vancouver Island, British Columbia.Our large main bathroom has a shower big enough to share or to contain a wheelchair, aqua tile floor, and long counter. The large living room has sliding glass doors on both sides to allow the breezes through. The house retains a perfect temperature all day, no fans or air conditioning needed, but on an exceptionally hot day there are ceiling fans in every room. During the cooler evenings we sometimes close the sliding doors on the mountain side. From the bedrooms or the living room you can listen to the garden fountain and watch the birds take baths. There are 55 Macademia nut trees on the 3 acres which is a small, older lava flow. We also have mango trees and citrus. A nut cracker is provided on one of the lanai tables. The large table seats six and we eat dinner out there while watching the sunsets. Our pool is long enough for lap swimming, but wide enough for kids to play in. It is heated with a solar heating system. You can walk out of the house and jump right into the pool. Bathing suits are optional because there is a privacy wall from the neighbors who are far enough away that they couldn't see what you have on anyway.

Our home sits on 2.5 acres of 10 acres of family land that has been in our family for generations. I have two bedrooms, one with custom queen size bunk beds and the master with a queen size bed, walk in closet and a walk in rock shower with a Jacuzzi tub and custom tile art work through out the house. Master bath has a koi pond and a taro patch and the kitchen has pineapples and taro leaves that role down the laundry stairs, front entrance sits a turtle (Hono) to welcome you. I have a big family entertainment room with theater chairs and big screen tv with a sound system that has speakers through out the house and deck, bedrooms all have flat screen tv's. I also have a massage chair that truly makes you feel completely relaxed. It is very quiet and peaceful since we have no neighbors and lots of land with fruit trees (oranges,lemons,limes,tangos,tangerines, mango's, avocados and lots of bananas). Our custom home was built in 2005 by my husband and I built with total love. Our kitchen has top of the line appliances and all stainless steal with all granite counter tops through out the house. We take pride in our home, our yard, our marriage and our life.

Hale Pikake Nalu (OceanWave Peacock House) is our vacation home located in Sea Village, an oceanfront complex. While there are many complexes that are listed as oceanfront, not all condos within those complexes are truly oceanfront. OUR condo is,Sea Village is a small 4 building oceanfront complex, with great landscaping, a marvelous heated pool and hot tub, a grassy picnic area with multiple gas grills, and plenty of parking. This is a strictly non-smoking complex with enforced quiet hours 10pm to 8am. Our unit is in building 4, closest to the ocean, farthest from the road, and exceptionally quiet. Hale Pikake Nalu is on the first floor (no stairs to climb with suitcases and groceries). Nalu is the Hawaiian word meaning ocean wave that breaks on shore. And the waves do literally break on the rocks right off the balcony. The neatest thing--watching the sunset. And did I say view? When you are sitting in the living room you feel as though you are on a cruise ship--all you see is the ever-changing sea. Speaking of sea, the beautiful aqua-marine colors of the ocean were the inspiration behind the peacock (pikake) colors in the condo as well as the plumage of the Big Island peacock.Hale details-- brand new king size pillow top bed, luxury hotel linens, new bamboo flooring bedroom and living room, tiled kitchen and bath, new sofa and chairs, new Samsung TV with 50 cable channels, free wifi. There is a great ocean breeze--sleeping is the best with the bedroom window open to draw the breeze and sound of the waves from the open patio door though the hale into the bedroom-- no need for a noise machine! There are good ceiling fans throughout the house and balcony. Little warm in the late afternoon with the western exposure? No worries (common Hawaiian expression) as we have one of the few units in the complex with an air conditioner for those few hours before sunset. Although it is not designed to 'refrigerate' the entire condo, it does provide a comfortable 74-degree environment.

Linen and beach towels are provided to our guests. There is a washing machine and a clothes line is available to air dry your laundry. This property has a full kitchen, equipped with a microwave, crystal, cookware, coffee maker, toaster; utensils, starter paper products; internet and cable television are available for our guests. Owner lives close by and available to attend to the property, if needed.Grab your favorite tropical drink, enjoy your meals outside on the lanai, or simply step outside to bask in sun and enjoy the ocean view. We added several decorative features incorporated throughout the house from the lava rocks embedded on the exterior, a surfboard as the bar counter top, the decorative tile work on the lanai floor, patio bench, and to the outdoor shower, and you’ll get a kick out of the outdoor bathroom cleverly concealed as a tree house.For outdoor activities, there are boogie boards, snorkeling and swim fins for you to use. Five minutes away from your vacation rental is a series of shopping centers, containing grocery stores, drug stores, fast food, and multiple local and ethnic restaurants for your dining pleasure. Also nearby are six golf courses, tennis courts, and a historic train ride attraction. You will be a short drive away with more venues for your viewing, shopping, and dining pleasure. The Waikele outlet Shopping Center, the USS Arizona Memorial, and the Aloha Stadium Swap Meet are just a convenient drive from your location. We are 15 minutes away from the new Disney Hawaii Resort, Aulani. The North Shore is approximately 30 minutes away with world famous surfing beaches, and visitor highlights such as the Macadamia Nut Farm, the Dole Plantation tour, Waimea Falls, the Polynesian Cultural Center, and several local luau’s, shops, and restaurants. An added tidbit, during the summer months Ewa Beach is great for surfing and the North Shore is know for surfing during the winter months.For those that smoke, we ask you to please smoke outdoors and please refrain from smoking inside the house.
