| Beach Activities |
| You have access to six beaches on Anna Maria
Island — Coquina Beach, Cortez Beach, Bradenton Beach, Manatee
Beach, Holmes Beach and Anna Maria Beach. Shelling,
swimming, sun bathing, beach volleyball and picnics are
possible on all of them. |
| |
| Fishing |
| Anna Maria Island has three fishing piers — Anna Maria, Rod and Reel, and
Bradenton Beach. Anna Maria City Pier, which is more than a
hundred years old, is a 678-foot long pier where people love
to stroll. The choice of fishing styles is as varied as the
game fish in the area. You can make deep-sea offshore runs
or fish in the flats and shallow waters that surround the
Island. |
| |
| Water Sports |
| With so much water around, can water sports
be far to find? Try your hand at parasailing, jet-skiing or
sailing a catamaran, sailboat or powerboat above the emerald
waters of the Gulf of Mexico. |
| |
| Biking |
| Biking is a major activity, as is also the
most-preferred way to get around even in Anna Maria City,
which is truly a quaint little village. Beach access can be
obtained by traveling some of the side streets along the
Gulf. |
| |
| Eco-tours |
| The entire Anna Maria Island is surrounded
by exceptional water views with glimpses of bottle-nosed
dolphins, manatees as well as nesting areas for the
endangered loggerhead turtles along the shore. Towards the
southernmost point, on the bay side, are the sandy paths
lined with lush foliage leading to Sarasota Bay for viewing
many species of water and shore birds. Coquina Beach is an
oasis of beauty with 96 acres of Australian pine. Explore
the Gamble Plantation, Crosley Mansion, Selby Gardens and
Sarasota Jungle Gardens. |
