Several times throughout the year, the Henry
Cowell Redwood State Park offers a moonlit guided tour of
the redwoods and a moon gaze through telescopes. Activities
also include a multi-media presentation about the park's
nocturnal critters and refreshments. Call the park for more

Tours of the Monarch Butterfly Grove
Join a naturalist at Natural Bridges State
Beach on a tour to see thousands of monarch butterflies
wintering in Santa Cruz. Tours begin at 11 AM and 2 PM on
weekends in January and February.
Migration Festival

mid-February, you can discover creatures that migrate by
visiting any of these California state parks in the area:
Natural Bridges, Seacliff, and Henry Cowell Redwoods State
Park, Santa Cruz.
Santa Cruz Kayak Surf Festival
On a weekend in mid-February, experience the
largest Kayak Surf competition, which draws champions from
around the world, on Steamer Lane at Lighthouse
Point.
Easter Boat Tour of Elkhorn Slough
On a weekend in mid April, Elkhorn Slough
Safari offers pontoon tours through the slough to view sea
otters, harbor seals, and other marine wildlife. Tours
depart from Moss Landing.
Santa Cruz Mountain Wineries Passport Program
Use special annual passport days (4
annually) to visit 38 different wineries, some not normally
open to the public. Taste vintages, meet winemakers and view
the wine production process. Upon visiting all wineries,
passport holders are eligible for prizes. The passports have
no expiration date. Wineries are open 11 AM-5 PM on each of
these 4 days.
