Getting To and Around Big Bear Lake |
There are two ways of reaching Big Bear Lake. You can take a flight to the Big Bear City Airport or drive in. If you are driving in, though, it is better to choose the route depending upon the season and weather conditions. If you are driving in winter, then do not forget to carry chains in your vehicle.
There are three main routes into Big Bear Lake. The easiest among them is to catch Highway 330, cross Running Springs and then turn into Highway 18. If you want to enjoy a more scenic drive, then take the longer route through Highway 38. If you are not comfortable with mountain driving, you could also take the Highway 18 and come through Lucerne Valley. This route gets less snowfall during storms.
