Centro, as it is popularly known, has all the glitz that categorize a tourist zone be it restaurants, shopping zones, nightclubs etc. Then there are the ecological reserves, lovely lagoons and mangroves that are part of the eco-tourism that is the mainstay of Cancun. |

| The Tourist Zone |
| The Caribbean Sea forms a spectacular backdrop to the tourist zone dotted with nightclubs, party zones, restaurants and even minor archaeological sites. The party never seems to end here. A major attraction of this island is the Laguna Nichupté, an enormous, tranquil lagoon that houses numerous marinas, restaurants, and golf courses. The water of the lagoon is usually tranquil and is perfect for all water sports including water skiing and snorkeling. The surrounding mangroves and the jungle-esque scenery add to the mesmerizing beauty of the island. The famous archaeological site of this zone is the Ruinas El Rey. The small admission fee charged is well worth it when you see the well preserved and the sheer number of resident Iguanas that are a part of the site. |

| Coba |
| Located about 170 km south of Cancun is Coba, once a great city and now a jungle-bound site measuring nearly 50 sq. km. in size. Surrounded by a dense jungle and five fresh water lakes, the region has great historical relevance more so with the unearthing of the Nochuc Mul, a 138-foot tall pyramid (tallest in the Yucatan), a nine-tiered castle, and a ball court. Another highlight of this site is the presence of sacbe or the wide limestone-paved ancient roads that are more prevalent here than in any site discovered. |

| Xel-Ha |
| Literally translated Xel-Ha is the place where water is born. Found along the Riviera Maya, this is an amazing natural aquarium formed with a natural combination of freshwater currents of the springs and underground rivers. This incredible eco-system is surrounded by a thick jungle, caves, cenotes and archaeological sites. The vast acres of spectacular lagoons, coves and inlets, large tranquil pools are teaming with exotic fish and other wildlife. Snorkeling is a favorite activity in this haunt, which is also a favorite with the bird-watchers especially the noisy macaws.

| This is Cancun’s museum of history and anthropology located next to the majestic Santo Domingo Church. The museum gives an enlightening insight into the pre-Hispanic and Mexican history and must be part of your vacation itinerary during your stay at a Cancun condo or Cancun vacation rental. The incredible pictures, artifacts, and views out of every window make the museum very impressive. The interactive computers in most rooms are useful if you want to obtain more information about the exhibits and displays as also of the ancient Mayan Civilization. |
