| Nature Walks and Eco-tourism |
| The region’s flora and fauna include “walking” mangrove trees, burrowing owls and the great manatee. Take care around those endangered walrus-like creatures, though law protects them and fines are as high as $20,000 and a year in jail. Alternatively, you could just take a 60-minute drive down to the Everglades in search of some alligators. |

| Adventure and Water Parks |
Nearby is the Sun Splash Family Water Park, where the family can enjoy a day together and pick up Florida souvenirs on the way out. This 12-acre water park features more than two dozen wet and dry attractions including 457-feet, 5-story high giant slide. The park has areas for family members of all ages, including a designated children’s area.
The Mike Greenwell's Family Fun Park is another stop for family entertainment. The amusement center has a fish feeding dock, an 8,000-square-foot mega-maze, bumper cars, playground, miniature golf, batting cages, 4 go-cart tracks, snack bar and a 6,000-square-foot arcade.
Orlando is just 3 hours to the northeast, which makes a day trip to Disney World or Sea World a fun prospect during your vacation. If you are looking for more grown up fun, the hottest "hot spot" in the world, South Beach in Miami, is just 2 hours away. Or spend some time in Key West, strolling down Duval Street visiting the places that Hemmingway loved when he lived just around the corner. |
