Take a trip to Black’s Island, situated in the middle of the bay, to spot sea turtles and bottle-nosed dolphins. St. Joseph Peninsula State Park and Salina Park both have boating facilities. Boating ramps are also provided in the Peninsula State Park. Canoes, kayaks, pontoon boats and other water vehicles can be rented outside the Peninsula State Park. What add to the charm of this place are ample opportunities not just for fishing but, trying your hand at catching a crab or scalloping as well. Do keep certain points in mind. The local residents can fish without a license but visitors need a license in most cases. Regulations can change frequently, so be sure to get a copy of the local area regulations. In addition, for scalloping, a fishing license and dive flags are essential. The best time of the year to enjoy a good scallop catch is in the months between July and September, when they are harvested.
