| Eastern Band of Cherokee Nation Reservation |
| On the Eastern Band of Cherokee Nation Reservation you can learn more about Cherokee culture and heritage by visiting the Oconaluftee Indian Village, an authentic replica of an 18th century Cherokee community. Cherokee guides lead tours of the village, which include demonstrations of bead working, basket weaving and other skilled crafts. The village is open daily from 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM, May to October. Admission is $13.00 for adults and $6.00 for children ages 6 to 13.
You can also spend some time at the Museum of the Cherokee Indian. This museum combines high-tech wizardry and an extensive artifact collection to provide a fun and exciting educational event. The museum is opens daily at 9:00 AM, except on Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Day. Admissions fees are $9.00 for adults, $6.00 for children 6 – 13 and free for children under 6. Discounts are available for groups and for seniors with AARP or AAA membership.

| John C. Campbell Folk School |
| One of the places in the Cherokee area on the National Register of Historic Places is the John C. Campbell Folk School in Brasstown. The Folk School offers visitors a chance to experience a special blend of history, art and nature. The school’s History Center holds a wide collection of 20th century Appalachian memorabilia, like the old bench where the world-famous Brasstown Carvers began. The Craft Shop features the work of over 300 local and regional artists, including crafts like woodcarving, ironwork, weaving, glasswork, and enameling. |

| Those interested in learning more about Appalachia can also visit the Cherokee County Historical Museum, which offers an extensive collection of Indian artifacts, early American tools, house wares and other exhibits of past mountain life. Museum hours are Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Admission is $3.00 for adults and $1.00 for children. |

| Great Smoky Mountain Railroad |
| Just minutes from Cherokee is one of America’s finest scenic railways, The Great Smoky Mountains Railroad. Choose a steam or diesel engine for a half-day excursion from Bryson City or Dillsboro depots. Prepaid reservations must be made no less than 7 days prior to your departure date, so be sure to call ahead. No refunds are given within 24 hours of departure. Seating is first come, first serve. There is no smoking on the train. |
