| Beach Activities |
Surrounded by the majestic Pacific Ocean and Glorietta and San Diego bays, Coronado invites you to visit its beaches. Coronado City Beach has been named one of the “Travel Channel’s 2003 Top Beaches in the United States.” Coronado’s beaches also received high marks as a family beach and as a weekend getaway. Waves are gentle here, so the lovely, wide, sparkling beach draws many families. At the north end, you can watch fighter jets in formation flying from the Naval Air Station, while just south is the pretty section fronting Ocean Boulevard and the Hotel del Coronado.
The Coronado City Beach and the Silver Strand State Beach offer swimming, surfing, whale-watching, ship-watching, jet skiing and more. There is also the Dog Beach at the most northwesterly end of Coronado Beach, where you can bring your dog along that too off-leash. The presence of Mica in the sand makes the Coronado beaches glitter and sparkle. |
