Dauphin Island has over 32 miles of beach to sink your toes into. Sunshine and smooth seas allow for incredible deep-sea fishing excursions. Bike trails, a fantastic zoo, nature walks, shopping and spectacular seafood—Dauphin Island offers a long list of family friendly activities.

    Pier Fishing
    Anglers can look forward to plenty of fishing at the famous Fishig Pier of Dauphin Island which is located east of the Water Tower and is 850’ long. This wheelchair accessible pier has railing all around and is equipped with bottom lights for spec fishing and overhead lights for night fishing.  The fishing pier is open 24 hours a day from March to November; 7AM to 11PM in the month of December and 7AM to 5PM in January and February. In the months April and May through late October you can catch speckled trout, red fish, flounder, king mackerel, ling, shark-black tip, sand shark and hammerhead. From November through February you can catch red fish, black drum, flounder and sheephead.
     
    Deep Sea Fishing
    Dauphin Island has more than just sugar white beaches. You will find a quiet laid-back life style and world class deep sea fishing to explore. Boats are available suiting to the requirements of tourists for deep sea fishing of the magnificent blue marlin, wahoo, tuna, dolphin, huge red snapper, amberjack, grouper, king mackerel etc. Everything for fishing is supplied, including licenses. On request, fish cleaning services are also provided. You can bring your food and drinks iced down in coolers.
     
    Bayou Heron Park

    Bayou Heron Park is a quiet and peaceful waterfront park popular for bird watchers and others. It has a wonderful sight of the 32 mile bridge connecting Dauphin Island to the mainland. Provision of picnic tables and benches is also there at the park.

     
    Magnolia Park
    Magnolia Park is a very small road side park located between the ferry landing and Historic Fort Gaines. It is designed originally to give walk-on visitors from the ferry (a shaded spot to picnic) and cool- off. The park has also become popular with those using it as a long Bike path. A porch swing hanging from a large magnolia limb is also provided in addition to the picnic tables and benches.
     
    Shell Mound Park
    Shell Mound Park is the best place on Dauphin Island to see birds, especially during migration. The heaps of earth cover lots of oyster shells and you can observe “Shell Mounds” throughout the day during spring and fall migration. You can spend mid-afternoon hours at the mounds in case it seems that a good migratory flight is on the move at about noon. Most of the passerine migrants have been seen on Dauphin Island at one time or the other. The access to the park is directly ahead and marked by a sign. There is an additional parking at the back of the park.
