Lover’s Key State Park is a chance to relax to the sound of the surf gently rolling in. Located Black Island, Lover’s Key is ten minutes away and an ideal place for a picnic. Take an open tram ride, on a sunny afternoon, through the scenic mangrove islands and reach the beach decorated with seashells and driftwood. There’s live entertainment presented for you by shore birds, seagulls and raccoons looking out for scraps of food. You can also keep watch for West Indian manatees, bottlenose dolphins and bald eagles.
There is every conceivable water toy available here, from windsurfer to catamaran and parasailing. Inland waterways allow you to experience the serenity of a canoe trip down the Imperial River.

Fishing
Estero is a popular fishing destination. Beach, dock, and boat fishing are all a pleasure because of the miles of ambling waterways and beach. Temporary 12 month, 7day, and 3 day fishing licenses are available for nonresidents. Children under the age of 16 do not need a license to fish in Florida.

Walking Tours
Tour the Corkscrew Sanctuary, a place for walkers to immerse themselves in pinelands, wetlands and cypress grounds. Estero is also a bird watchers’ paradise and a designated stopover on the Florida Birding Trail. Little Estero Island is a significant nesting area for the least tern, snowy plovers, willet and black skimmers. Spring and fall migrations attract many visitors.

Dog Races
About six miles away, in Bonita Springs, the Naples Fort Myers Greyhound Track attracts visitors the year round. Races are conducted 7 days a week during the season, which is from December 26 through Easter and 5 to 6 days a week other times of the year.
