Estero Bay Preserve State Park
Home to one of the most productive estuaries in the whole of state, Florida’s first aquatic preserve even protects water, inlets and islands along the 10 miles of Estero Bay. The bay offers enough opportunity for you to delve into a wildlife watching experience because it is inhabited by variety of fauna and flora including, bald eagle, gopher tortoises, fiddler crabs, slash pines and live oaks. Visitors can fish, canoe or kayak in the Bay or on Estero River, while others can go hiking or biking unending miles of nature trails. As the park remains most wet, spring offers access to maximum areas as it remains dry. The park opens from 8 AM until sundown, 365 days a year. Admission is free.

Koreshan State Historic Site
Estero is famous for Koreshan State Historic Site, a creation of Dr. Cyrus Teed, a Civil War veteran who created a new religious sect called Koreshan Unity. This sect believed in the equality of women long before it became popular. He gathered his followers and shifted his commune from Chicago to Estero. Some of the buildings still stand, including a theatre exhibiting a hollow globe, which displays the embodiment of their belief. Guided tours are available.
