State Parks in the region, including Allen David Broussard Catfish Creek Preserve State Park, located just 13 miles from Haines City, offer interesting outdoor activity options. If you are a wildlife lover, the state park is a great choice. Home to rare plants, the state park also houses protected species of animals such as Florida scrub jays, bald eagles, gopher tortoises, Florida scrub lizards, etc. You can hike across the sylvan surroundings of the park, go horse riding or wildlife viewing. The park offers challenging trails for hikers and bikers. The park is open from 8 AMm to sundown and there are no parking fees. Other state parks are Lake Kissimmee State Park, Lake Louisa State Park and Alafia State Park among others.
