Haines City is not only about lakes and water sports. There are a variety of entertainment options available here to make it a memorable holiday for vacationers of all ages. Most of the vacation rentals have access or membership to some of the best golf courses in the state. There are also many amusement and theme parks, water parks, state parks, zoos, aquariums, museums of art, history and technology for history enthusiasts.

A must see on the itinerary of every visitor to Haines City is Walt Disney World. Animal Kingdom, Disney-MGM Studios, Magic Kingdom and Epcot are favorites with visitors. Situated on Lake Buena Vista, these places hold attraction for kids and adults alike.

    Museums
    Vacationers can choose from around 6 museums in Orlando, Tampa, Winter Park and Lakeland to gain insight into the world of art, history and technology.

    Orlando Museum of Art, located around 33 miles from Haines City, is a popular destination among tourists from all over the world. The museum covers all aspects of art, from ancient to modern. It also organizes events and festivals that make visiting the museum an engrossing affair, throughout the year. This year too, several exhibitions are lined up.

    The gallery is open from Tuesday to Friday, 10 am to 4 pm and on Saturday and Sunday from noon to 4 pm. It is closed on Mondays and all major holidays. Exclusive items of art can be bought from the museum art shop also. Tickets to the museum are priced at $8 for adults, $7 for senior citizens and college students with ID and those in groups of over 10. For students between 6 to 18 years, tickets are priced at $5 and admission is free for children aged below 5.

    Among the other museums in the region are International Sport Aviation Museum (ISAM), in Lakeland, Albin Polasek Museum and Sculpture Garden in Winter Park, Morse Museum in Winter Park, Tampa Museum of Art in Tampa and Henry B Plant Museum in Tampa.
     
    Walt Disney World Animal Kingdom
    While in Walt Disney World Animal Kingdom, you can enjoy the Kilimanjaro Safari. Traveling in an open sided safari vehicles, watch animals like giraffes, elephants, rhinos, lions and hippos. This park is open from 8 AM to 8 PM. Visitors should be free from medical conditions including high BP, heart ailments and back or neck problems. Expectant mothers are not allowed. Those with young children can take turns on the safari. Translation devices are also available at the attractions upon the payment of a refundable deposit. Other attractions include Mickey’s Jammin’ Jungle Parade and Dinosaur. You can also raft down the unpredictable waters of the Asian river Chakranadi in Kali River Rapids.
     
    Walt Disney World- MGM Studios
    At Walt Disney World- MGM Studios, visit the spooky Twilight Zone of Terror, Rock and Roller Coaster. Witness the extreme stunt show, ‘Lights, Motors, Action. At Walt Disney World Epcot, enjoy futuristic rides and attractions. In Mission Space, fight meteors and other cosmic obstructions as you try and save planet earth. Future World is open from 9 am to 9 pm. You have a variety of dining options, in true Disney style.
     
    Cypress Gardens Adventure Park
    Cypress Gardens Adventure Park is situated a little over 8 miles from Haines City and is worth a visit. There are over 41 rides to choose from in the park, including Fiesta Express, Inverter, Galaxy Spin, Swamp Thing, Yo-Yo. Family rides include Fun Brigade, Fun Slide, Jalopy Junction, etc. There are many water rides as well. Certain rides have height or weight restrictions. Outside food and beverage is not allowed in the park. Swimwear is allowed only in Splash Island Water. Teasing or feeding animals is not allowed, unless the feed is from the park animal feed.

    The park operating hours differ nearly every few days and proper enquiries regarding this must be made prior to your visit. Regular Admission Ticket (age 10 to 54) costs $39.95 plus tax. Senior Ticket (those above 54) and Junior Ticket is priced at $34.95 plus tax. Admission is free for children below 2.
     
    Walt Disney World Typhoon Lagoon
    Walt Disney World Typhoon Lagoon, just 20 miles away from Haines City, is an exhilarating experience for kids and adults alike. Enjoy high speed water slides with nerve wrecking turns and surprises at Humunga Kowabunga. You can also relax on an inner tube as you meander through the entire park in Castaway Creek or surf to your heart’s content at Surf Pool’. The park is open from 9 AM to 6 PM. Some of the attractions may be closed on some day due to operational updates at the park.
     
    Wet N' Wild Water Park
    Wet N' Wild Water Park, in Orlando, is yet another favorite destination among vacationers. The park has many watery rides that ensure a whale of a time when you are there. Recently opened, the Disco H20 section is inspired by the 70s. You can wander your way on a boat into a water club and jive to the music inside. The Blast is an amazing tube ride amidst blast effects created by sound effects and colorful ions. Or just laze around in the sun and water and enjoy attractions like Wave Pool, Lazy River and sand volleyball games.

    Kids have their own rides to boast of. Kids’ Park has exclusive rides for kids, and materials and equipments here have been made specifically for children under 48 inches. Kids can enjoy in miniature versions of adult rides safely. Bubble Up is another attraction where kids love slipping down a huge multi-colored air-filled balloon that is topped by a fountain. Kids under 13 are allowed in the zone.

    Wet N’ Wild Park has certified lifeguards and the pools are heated seasonally. All day locker and shower facilities are available but pets are not allowed. Required beachwear accessories and items such as sunglasses, sunscreen etc can be purchased at the venue.

    Tickets for general admission are priced at $34.95. Tickets for children aged 3 to 9 costs $28.95 and that for senior citizens costs $17.48. Admission for children below 3 is free. A Weekday Annual Pass would cost $47 while an Annual Pass would cost $89.95.
