Hallandale is situated in the Broward County of South Florida. Hallandale is best known for its famous thoroughbred racetrack, Gulfstream Park, which you cannot miss once you are at Hallandale. There are many sights and museums within 10 miles of Hallandale.

    Gulfstream Park
    Hallandale is best known for the famous thoroughbred race track, Gulfstream Park. The admission to the grounds is free during the entire season. Their Tickets Sports Theatre has regular performances by well-known musicians and comedians.
     
    Museums
    The Art and Culture Center of Hollywood on Harrison Street is open 10 AM to 5 PM everyday, except on Thursday when it opens from 10 AM to 8 PM and Sunday from 1 PM to 4 PM. The gallery remains closed on Mondays. The admission fee is $5 for adults and $3 for seniors and students. Children below the age of 13 enter free. Every third Sunday of the month, the entry fee is dropped. Group discounts are available.

    The Museum of Discovery and Science in Fort Lauderdale has over 200 exhibits for you to explore. It is open all days of the year, Mondays to Saturday from 10 AM to 5 PM and 12 noon to 6 PM on Sundays. For the exhibits adults have to pay $9, seniors $8, and children over 2 pay $7. These tickets do not gain you an entry into the IMAX zone. A general admission ticket that includes exhibits and one IMAX show costs $14 for adults, $13 for seniors, and $12 for children over 2.

    The International Game Fish Association Hall of Fame and Museum located in Dania Beach, remains open daily from 10 AM to 6 PM except on Thanksgiving and Christmas. Children below 16 and seniors pay $5 and adults $6. Special assistance for handicapped persons is available.
     
    State Parks
    Hugh Taylor Birch State Park in Fort Lauderdale features biking, canoeing, hiking and picnicking facilities. It is a great place to catch a glimpse of many Caribbean birds.

    John U. Lloyd Beach State Park in Dania has a great diving shore. Facilities are available for snorkeling, scuba diving, picnicking, boating, canoeing, and kayaking.

    Oleta River State Park in North Miami is Florida’s largest urban park. The park is best known for its 10 miles of bike trails.

    All Florida State Parks are open all days of the year from 8 AM till sundown.
