The Healdsburg Museum, founded in 1976, is located a short walk from the historic plaza in the Old Carnegie Library Building. It features exhibits depicting the history and culture of Sonoma County through its 19th-century clothing, antique firearms, tools, crafts and Pomo Indian basketry. There are more than 8,000 original photographs. Important exhibits change about three times a year. The toy and doll exhibition held during the Christmas is a great center of attraction and delight for the children. The museum, a popular landmark of Healdsburg, is listed in the National Register of Historic Places.

    The Depot Park Museum
The Depot Park Museum is in fact a replica of the original historic Northwestern Pacific Railroad depot that was destroyed by a fire. Opened to the public in the year 1979, the museum has exhibits, which include among others, the Bear Flag Revolt of June 14, 1846, when a group of Americans attacked Sonoma, captured General Mariano Vallejo, hoisted the Bear Flag and declared California a free republic. Later on the flag was replaced by the Stars and Stripes. There are exhibits that represent the Sonoma history from the Miwok Indian period including a kitchen, parlor, bedroom and schoolroom and the original stage curtain from the Union Hall and Hotel in Sonoma. Also found in the museum premises are a books and gifts shop and a library of historical documents, maps, books and thousands of photographs.

The Museum comprises of a 3,000 square foot main gallery and many small galleries. The exhibits include private collections of the artists and also art items borrowed from other museums and resources.
