The market is only one hour east of Portland, Oregon. The weather can be a little tricky at Hood River. Normally speaking, if you go farther east of Portland in the Columbia River Gorge, the weather is better. You can’t predict weather of Hood River. It is right on the weather cusp. Severe winds can come up in minutes but again, on a rainy day in Portland, it might only be showery in Hood River. Heavy snows can also hit Mount Hood.

You can visit Hood River in April and June to view roses, tulips and daffodils in bloom. Lavender festival can be viewed in July in the Hood River Valley. The best time to see waterfalls is in the springtime. The winds at Hood River are always exceptional from June to September. The temperature is usually dry, in sunny days. Hood River is an hour's drive east of Portland along the Columbia River. Hood River is located at Exit #63 on Interstate 84. It is approximately 60 miles east of Portland, Oregon. It is 230 miles from Seattle. Hood River Airport is available for private and chartered flights. There is also an airfield in The Dalles and one in Troutdale. You can also acquire the slower scenic route partway, along a 24-mile stretch of the historic Columbia River Highway (Route 30), from just east of Troutdale to a few miles after Multnomah Falls.

Portland International Airport (PDX) is located 52.9 miles from Hood River, Yakima Air Terminal Airport is located a 76.1 miles from Hood River and Redmond Bend/Roberts Field (RDM) is 102.3 miles from Hood River.
