| Hang Gliding and Kiting |
Owing to pleasant, cordial winds and temperate climatic conditions at Kitty Hawk, two of the most popular activities of the region are kiting and hang gliding. Home to the world’s largest hang gliding school, ‘Kitty Hawk Kites' Hang Gliding Training Center, Kitty Hawk offers excellent opportunity for flying hang gliders to a myriad of enthusiasts. Individual and tandem hang gliding lessons are available from qualified instructors to those of all ages, from 8 to80 years old, male or female, physically fit or physically challenged. Special arrangements are made for paraplegics, blind, deaf and other physically challenged people.
Special festivals and events are held to even celebrate kiting and hang gliding. After their successful flight, Wright brothers had gone to the telegraph office at Kitty Hawks to inform their father about their achievement – the reason for its significance in the history of flying. Vicinity to Kill Devil Hills is another reason for its historical prominence. |

| Fishing |
Outer banks as a whole, offers some fabulous fishing be it surf or pier fishing, fresh water or salt-water fishing, however this region promises the best of fresh water fishing. Fresh water in Kitty Hawk Bay, Currituck Sound and various ponds along the banks has provided anglers excellent largemouth bass fishing for many years. Smaller pan fish are also available. However, license is needed for fresh water fishing. Salt and brackish water of lower Currituck Sound hosts a variety of fish from spot to trout during the summer months.
Kitty Hawk Fishing Pier is open from April through Thanksgiving and charges include $2 to walk on the pier, admission for fishing $5 for adults, $3 for children and weekly pass $25.

| Offering a relaxing atmosphere, the town of Kitty Hawk is home to some pristine beaches as well. Its unspoiled natural landscape is breathtaking in its innate beauty. It also provides public beach access, which is marked in orange and blue signs, to facilitate beach driving to vacationers. In order to use the public beach access ramps and get to the beach, you must have a 4-wheel drive vehicle. |
