Beach Activities
| La Jolla is home to 3 pristine beaches - Windansea Beach, La Jolla Shores and La Jolla Cove. Sandstone rocks act as partitions along Windansea Beach offering a secluded atmosphere for sunbathing. In summers, waves lapping La Jolla Shores are usually, the most gentle of all San Diego beaches. The waters of La Jolla Cove are reserved for swimming and diving only.

Walking, Hiking and Biking
La Jolla Valley Loop is a wonderful hike, particularly in the spring when the wildflowers are in their full bloom, which offer unsurpassed opportunities for walking, jogging or hiking. Torrey Pines State Reserve provides many trails through the range of southwestern landscapes. Many biking trails surrounding the ocean are available. Contact bike rentals to arrange for special biking tours that even toddlers can enjoy.

Water Sports
Tourmaline Surfing Park and Surf Diva Surf School serve as centers of water sports and recreation in La Jolla. Water visibility at La Jolla Cove can sometimes exceed 30 feet, making it a popular location for scuba diving and snorkeling. Many novice scuba classes are held at La Jolla Shores due to its gentle waves. Surfing is excellent at Windansea, but the popular surf breaks are very concentrated and can become quite crowded. You can surf at La Jolla Shores instead.

Cave Exploring
There are 7 caves carved into the sandstone cliffs between La Jolla Cove and La Jolla Shores Beach. All but one cave are inaccessible on foot, except at extreme minus tides though you can visit all the 7 caves by kayak.
