Beach Activities
The sparkling white sands are great for beach-combing, strolling, sunbathing and other beach activities. Cars are allowed on parts of the beach during the day. For people who like a car-free beach the south end is a good place. From May through October the beach is host to the magnificent sea turtles. A word of caution here, you should not touch the sea turtles, not stand close to the turtle laying eggs or even be seen around their nesting areas, as the beach ensures their preservation and safety as well. Check with local authorities for beach rules specially formulated to protect nesting areas.

Fishing
The Indian River, the Atlantic Ocean, Indian River Lagoon, and the local lakes and lagoons provide ample opportunities for throwing that reel in. Redfish, cobia, wahoo, mackerel, and billfish are among the fish species found here. Local tournaments add to the fishing fun. Fishing boat charters are also available. You can even enjoy off shore fishing here, there are many deep-sea charters available to venture out into in the Atlantic Ocean.
