Ocean Drive
Ocean Drive offers a 10-mile scenic route for walking and jogging enthusiasts, which passes through mansions on Bellevue Avenue, Brenton Point and back into downtown Newport. It is a spectacular, quiet walk early in the morning. If you do not wish to walk the entire 10 miles, you can park at Brenton Point then walk up to Harrison Avenue (the beautiful Newport Country Club) and then retreat to Brenton Point. Be prepared though, as even the shortest loop here, is less than 2.5 miles, offering fabulous countryside viewing. |

Bellevue Avenue
This short scenic drive or walk takes you past many of the mansions for which Newport is famous. Most of the popular places, including the privately owned homes that are closed to public are visible from the road, while walking or jogging. |

| Biking |
| Newport being on a relatively small island, does not offer any resistance to the adventurous bikers. Newport is a perfect place for biking around, even within the town. In fact, they stand at an advantage, on busy summer weekends, those who rent or bring bikes to move around town, may happily find themselves moving faster than the cars. Some of the other great places to enjoy the thrill of biking are at the Point and Historic Hill sections of town, which boasts the largest concentration of pre-1800 architectural marvels in the country. |

Charter boats, fishing rental equipment companies and the ones organizing whale-watching excursions abound at Newport, promising avid anglers and whale watching enthusiasts a time of their life.
During the season, visitors enjoy fishing for halibut, rock pile or salmon, and enjoy bottom-fishing trips up until the Inner Reefs. Tuna fishing is great fun from August through October. The pleasure of whale watching is in the early spring and late fall, when many whales migrate to this area. Bay crabbing can be done and thoroughly enjoyed throughout the year.
