Deep sea fishing, as well as river fishing, is available for anglers. River fishing can be fun with the bountiful waters at Tomoka River. A survey by the Florida Marine Research Institute has identified 90 different species of fish in the Tomoka River, which includes game fish such as red drum, black drum, sheepshead, spotted seatrout, common snook and tarpon.
Freshwater fishing requires a license; a saltwater fishing license is required for non-residents and for those fishing from a boat. However, saltwater fishing does not require a license as long as you fish from land, a pier or a bridge. Temporary 12 month, 7day, and 3 day fishing licenses are available for nonresidents. Children under the age of 16 do not need a license to fish in Florida. Size and bag limits are strictly enforced. All of the current regulations are available at the park and rental equipment companies. Equipment and boats can be rented easily. |

| Racing |
| Both nearby Daytona and Ormond Beach are cities are best known for their beaches and for their racing. The famous Daytona 500 race in February, the year round Daytona U.S.A. and the Richard Petty Driving Experience attract racing enthusiasts to Daytona, but the town of Ormond Beach got its reputation as the “Birthplace of Speed” because of it’s 1903 racetrack. For 8 years thereafter, the city was the world's center of racing. Inventors with names like Olds, Ford, Chevrolet and Packard tested their machines on the only reliable flat track in the United States. To celebrate its history, the weekend after Thanksgiving the city hosts the Birthplace of Speed Antique Car Show and Swap Meet. Spectators are admitted free to all events. Ormond Beach still has one of the few drive-in beaches in the world. |
