| White, soft, sandy beaches make Emerald Coast a popular destination for Florida vacationers. Santa Rosa Beach is no exception. It is the playground for shell-seeking, sun-bronzing, sand castle building, picnicking or just strolling. Boat cruises are quite popular, especially the dolphin cruises. |

| Hiking, Biking and Nature Trails |
The entire stretch of beach along 30-A can be explored on a bike. Apart from that, the area has miles of on and off-road hiking and biking trails. Within Point Washington State Forest is the Eastern Lake Bike/Hike Trail. This trail system consists of 3 double track loop trails. The hiker or bicyclist can travel the 3.5, 5 or 10-mile loop. A green way trail system that crosses the forest is being developed. This trail will provide connections to Grayton Beach State Park, Deer Lake State Park, Topsail Hill State Preserve, Butler Elementary School and numerous residential developments. Upon completion, this trail system will provide over 27 miles of trails for recreational use.
Western Lake near Santa Rosa Beach has a salt marsh Eco-system backed by Pine Flatwoods and coastal scrub. In addition, the park has rare plants and wildlife, such as the Choctawhatchee beach mouse. The Grayton Beach Nature Trail also provides a tranquil setting for swimming, sunbathing and surf fishing. Visitors can paddle a canoe or kayak on scenic Western Lake. |

| Fishing |
Santa Rosa Beach offers offshore fishing, fly-fishing, backcountry fishing, custom flies and tackle. Offshore, you can catch sheepshead, white trout, channel bass, croaker, sailcat, bluefish and buckets of blue crab all year. Freshwater fishing is possible in the Blackwater, Shoal and Yellow Rivers, which are teeming with bass, bream and catfish.
Freshwater fishing in Florida requires a license, but saltwater fishing does not as long as you fish from land, a pier or a bridge. Temporary 12 month, 7 day and 3 day fishing licenses are available for nonresidents. Children under the age of 16 do not need a license to fish in Florida. |

The clear waters of the Gulf of Mexico beckon visitors to explore them in all sorts of adventurous ways, including swimming, beach diving, snorkeling, kayaking, sailing, body boarding and glass-bottom boat cruising.
Scuba divers will enjoy the diving opportunities in Santa Rosa. Sandbars are about a mile from shore and limestone reef is about 3 miles out. There are several natural reef sites in the area, including Amberjack Rocks, Long Reef, White Hill, The Eighteens and Timberholes. Amberjack Rock is the largest reef system. It is about 80 feet deep and known for its spear fishing and shelling. Artificial reef sites include Air Force Barge, Liberty Ship, Butler’s Barge and Destin Bridge Rubble. Air Force Barge, in 62 inches of water, is perfect for novice divers who want to improve their skills. |

| Santa Rosa Beach has 3 regulation tennis courts. You can also try Seaside Swim & Tennis Club, which offers private lessons and clinics for both kids and adults. Rent a racquet, ball hopper or ball machine and have some fun. |
