Topsail Hill State Preserve
Located in the city of Santa Rosa, Topsail Hill State Preserve has beach, dunes, coastal lake and cypress swamp that remain nearly untouched. This park has 3.2 miles of secluded beaches with 25-feet high dunes. Within the preserve are 3 rare coastal dune lakes that provide excellent freshwater fishing from the shoreline, as boats aren’t allowed. Your catch may yield bass, bream, panfish and catfish. Bird watching, hiking, biking, walking, swimming, sunbathing and beachcombing can all be enjoyed in this paradise. The preserve is open daily from 8 AM to sunset and charges a $2 fee per car.

Point Washington State Forest
Santa Rosa offers several entrances to Point Washington State Forest, which is a 15,000-acre preserve with more than 10 miles of trails. The park consists of sand hill, basin swamps/Titi drains, wet flat woods, wet prairie and cypress swamps. There you will find a range of flora and fauna, including the endangered red-cockaded woodpecker and the gopher tortoise, a species of special concern to environmentalists. You can also find flatwoods salamander, white-topped pitcher plant and the world's largest population of Curtiss sandgrass.

Eden State Gardens
Within the premises of Point Washington State Park, on the shore of Tucker Bayou, you will find Eden State Gardens. Azaleas, camellias and towering Spanish moss-covered live oaks - some dating back more than 600 years, surround the beautiful turn-of-the-century mansion. Eden State Gardens is also home to ArtsQuest, an award-winning fine arts festival held in May.

Grayton Beach State Park
The Grayton Beach Nature Trail also provides a tranquil setting for swimming, sunbathing and surf fishing. Visitors can paddle a canoe or kayak on scenic Western Lake. A boat ramp provides access to the lake for both freshwater and saltwater fishing. A nature trail winds through a coastal forest where scrub oaks and magnolias have been bent by salt winds, giving them that “Middle Earth” look. Hikers and bicyclists can enjoy over 4 miles of trails through the pine. The park is open daily from 8 AM to sunset and charges a $4 entry fee for each vehicle.
