| Visit Florida’s oldest alligator park, the St. Augustine Alligator Farm, which has to its credit, the honor of promoting the “largest reptile on exhibit in the Western Hemisphere”, Gomek. Located on Anastasia Island, less than a mile from Anastasia State Park, St. Augustine Alligator Farm hosts all twenty three species of crocodiles. The rare white alligators have also found a home in this Alligator farm. Other reptiles, tiny monkeys and over twenty five endangered animals can be observed here. |

Another nearby attraction of St. Augustine Beach is St. Augustine Lighthouse and Museum. An imposing brick edifice, this 19th century lighthouse beams 1000 watts of light through its ancient Fresnel lens throughout the night. One of the few lighthouses in Florida which is open to the public, the St. Augustine Lighthouse and Museum has been renovated with resources raised by the efforts of the Junior Service League. The history of the lighthouse is highlighted by the many artifacts that are housed within the lighthouse.
Climb the 219 steps to the top of this lighthouse for a panoramic view of the St. Augustine Beach and the surrounding areas. You can visit this historic lighthouse between 9.00 AM and 6.00 PM, with the last ticket being sold at 5.45 PM. During July and many holidays, the Lighthouse remains open till 7.00 PM. |
