Best Times to Visit California |
California’s climate is so diverse and varied that it makes it absolutely impossible to select which month of the year is the best time to visit the state. San Francisco Bay Area and the Central Coast share a marine temperate climate, which means the weather year round is relatively mild and just perfect for a vacation any time of the year. Summers are the ideal time to visit the northern coast as winters tends to get quite chilly due to the rainfalls at regular intervals. Southern California is usually warm and sunny throughout the year and therefore a much sought after year round destination.
The area around Lake Tahoe and Mount Shasta can be visited anytime during the year, however summers usually see a large number of visitors flocking to its various mountain resorts. The desert areas including Palm Springs and the desert national parks should be avoided during the summers as the temperatures can soar up to 100ºF. If you want to avoid the crowds then try and not travel between Memorial Day and Labor Day as this period sees the maximum influx of visitors. Usually autumn is the best time to visit California for those intending to avoid the crowds and looking for a great bargain. |
