    The Carnival
    The Carnival is a prelude to the festivals and each island carnival has its own different rules. The biggest of them all is Trinidad Carnival, which will leave you dizzy with its elaborate costumes, addictive fun and cheer draped in its sheer festive spirit. It takes place in February and as you get sucked in its intensity, you will forget food and drink though they are available in plenty. The music is awesome and lasts for two weeks.  You can even buy your own costume and take part in the parade, where colorful masks add to the thrill, but they are not compulsory.  
     
    Barbados Crop-Over Festival
    To celebrate the harvesting of the sugar cane crop, Barbados Crop-Over Festival is held in the month of July and lasts for a week that is marked by parades, calypso contests, and music and food fairs. On the last day the celebration in National Stadium reaches fever pitch as people revel in the festivities, with food and drink keeping them mirthful company.
     
    The Emancipation Festival
    The Emancipation Festival is held to celebrate the historical date of August 1, 1834 when the slaves were finally granted freedom after a long struggle, spanning years. A big parade on August Monday takes place in the noon before which a religious service is held including the reading of Emancipation Proclamation by the governor, followed by drama and music.
