| The lakeside Tallac Historic Site in South Lake Tahoe is a walk down memory lane as it takes you on a tour of the opulent edifices of a bygone era. Among the various remarkable landmarks, the Pope, Baldwin and Valhalla Estates stand out. The Pope Estate is open for guided tours and art exhibitions and Baldwin has been turned into a museum that houses a collection of family memorabilia and Washoe Indian artifacts, while Valhalla with its beautiful wood floors and open wood beam ceiling has become a popular venue for cultural events and concerts. Tallac Historic Site is open from Memorial Day through September and the grounds remain open from sunrise to sunset. |
