Our week long stay at the cottage was magnificent and adventurous. We had such a great time and would highly recommend this trip to everyone. The information given to us by the owner before we arrived was very helpful in planning our activities each day. Our favorite restaurant was Wally's in Marsh Harbor. We loved snorkeling and spending the afternoon at Nippers. Another favorite was shelling for sand dollars at Tilloo Bank. The water is so beautiful and breathtaking. Island hopping is easy from the cottage. There are so many fun things to do, we ran out of time. I guess we will just have to come back!!

This cottage provided a perfect early-January vacation for my husband, our 25-year-old daughter, and me. The cottage: peaceful, quiet, tastefully decorated, very clean, well-stocked, good internet connection, full kitchen and big gas barbeque -- and a fabulous view of the sunset. The area (This was our first visit to the Bahamas): warm water (low 70s in January), long, almost deserted soft-sand beaches, many little harbor/towns, each with its own character, great snorkeling, friendly people, small-town, island culture. Marsh Town: Easy to get to and to get around, with any business or store we needed, including Maxwell's with a huge selection of groceries. Transportation: boat, which is great fun on the protected Sea of Abaco, but can be undependable in winter storms (an excuse for a relaxing day with a book and a walk around the small cay). Owners: Sandi, next door, went out of her way to be sure we were comfortable. Their typed, detailed suggestions for activities, thoughtful and laminated, accompanied us on many great adventures.

Vacation Rentals in Abaco

Abaco is an island state that lies in the northern Bahamas and is comprised of the main islands of Little Abaco and Great Abaco. Other smaller islands include Elbow Cay, Sandy Point, Wood Cay, Stranger's Cay, Lubbers Quarters Cay, Great Stirrup Cay, Green Turtle Cay, Man-o-War Cay, Great Guana Cay, Umbrella Cay, Moore's Island, Walker's Cay, and Castaway Cay. This region of the Bahamas is considered to be the top sailing and boating destination in the world. Long miles of beaches and quaint towns together with excellent opportunities for diving and fishing make this location a vacationer's paradise. The Little Abaco and the Great Abaco function as the mainland along with a number of barrier islands that separate them from the Atlantic Ocean. There are some of the superb Abaco vacation rentals that offer a spectacular sea-view and come within an affordable range.

Abaco is the home to four beautiful national parks, which are the Great Guana Cay, Abaco Wild Horse Preserve, Pelican Cays Land and Sea Park, and Man-O-War Cay. Hope-Town is well-known for its candy-striped lighthouse. On a visit to the Marsh-Harbour, you will come across a host of eateries and hotels. There are a number of powerboats and sailboats available for cruising on the sea. The Sunday barbecues at the Great-Guana-Cay is very popular. The Nippers Bar here provides a panoramic view of the stunning beach of Guana. You can actually watch boat-making on visiting the Man-O-War-Cay that has a boat-building center. Soak your feet with the softest of sand at the Treasure Cay. There is so much to see and do here! All these become possible when you make one of the Abaco beach villas as your base.

It is the fresh seafood that dominates the local cuisine. Lobsters, crawfish, and different other varieties of fish are generally consumed here. Also, Grouper Nantua is popular as an appetizer. You can indulge in a pleasurable shopping activity too whereby you can fill your bag with gorgeous jewelry, locally made handicrafts, tropical shirts, and other colorful garments, etc. Several festivals and events take place throughout the year that witnesses a major rush of tourists. Some of these festivals include the Annual Island Roots Heritage Festival, Annual North Abaco Summer Festival and Power Boat Race, and Junkanoo Summer Festival. Getting an Abaco accommodation can be a tough affair during the festive seasons and the price can also be bit high.
