My husband and I rented this cute cabin to celebrate my retirement. As previous reviews have said, you can throw a stone and hit the lake. We saw the lake with ripples on windy days and perfectly still on windless days. It is so big and beautiful. We watched an osprey swoop down to the lake and fly off with a fish – right in front of our eyes! With the location of the cabin such as it is, day trips are very easy. You can head to Canada and be there in 15 minutes (we visited St. Andrews and Campobello) or south to Acadia National Park. East will take you to West Quoddy Head Lighthouse (which was our favorite location). Just hanging out at the cabin and staring at the lake is a great option, too! One of the biggest surprises to me was the friendliness of everyone we met in Maine. Without exception every person we met was very kind – from shop owners and wait staff to employees in the gas stations! Owner, Karen, fits into that description, too. She made the rental process very easy and wanted to hear that we enjoyed our trip. We certainly did!

My wife and I rented this cabin for two weeks in the fall and enjoyed it enough to call and make arrangements for a third week. You are close enough to the lake to toss a rock underhanded from porch to lake. I did. Some days we went on day trips (Eastport, Campobello, St Andrews, Lubec) others we just stayed at the cabin. I even walked around the lake one day but it was before I knew it was 13 miles. My wife fell in love with Eastport and we drove the 15 miles 2 to 3 times a week. The view from the Eastport Dock is the thing memories are made of. My favorite was the fact we found 3 weekly road side farmer markets and several local farms where we bought fresh locally grown vegetables all within 18 miles. We will be back. - James Dickinson
